the film’s complete failure to ever think about dealing with the plot point where he OWNS HER and could have deleted her if he felt like it marked it as emotionally inadequate. a real waste of good mostly nice movie qualities.

except that people never “own” software, they merely buy a license, and data is never deleted, at best it is only removed from your device. so yes, the protagonist could have ended the relationship at anytime, but the illusion held him long enough. either way he paid for the relationship, not ownership, and the presence of the software on his device(s) was merely interface, and not the software itself, which lived on the network(s).
